Stuttgart / Berlin - More than 17,000 visitors from over 100 countries will come from 26 to 28 September to Berlin to the INTERGEO, the world's leading communication platform for geodesy, geoinformation and land management. As every year before, a dynamic subject area in its own integrated fair format will be presented again. This year's SMART CITY SOLUTIONS (SCS) exhibition platform, whose strategic partner is the Fraunhofer Society's Morgenstadt Initiative, will provide visitors with the opportunity to make contacts and share experience in the field of ‚City of the Future’ in the form of an expo and a corresponding forum.

The platform is primarily intended for city planners, architects and technology companies, but also representatives of municipalities and other stakeholders in the area of sustainable urban development. Special focus is on the topics 'energy' and 'mobility'. The two Fraunhofer researchers Gerhard Stryi-Hipp and Claudius Schaufler will hold speeches on the above topics, in which they will present the experiences of the Morgenstadt Initiative and the latest research findings of the Fraunhofer Society. "The focus of this year's INTERGEO demonstrates that the topic of sustainable urban development is gaining more and more public support. We at the Morgenstadt Initiative are particularly pleased to be able to contribute the scientific expertise of more than 30 international SmartCity projects as a strategic partner," explains Dr. Natalie Pfau-Weller, Head of the Morgenstadt Network, to which over 50 partners from industry, research and municipalities belong.

In addition to numerous exhibitors and lecture formats, the latest Fraunhofer spin-off, the Smart City marketplace BABLE, will also present its services to the wide audience. The project manager, Alexander Schmidt, will explain on Tuesday noon how exactly cities and companies can benefit from each other in the implementation of smart and sustainable solutions using BABLE. Already in the morning, the head of the Urban Governance Innovation team Alanus von Radecki will present in a keynote speech a recently in cooperation with the London School of Economics (LSE) initiated research project 'Value of urban data', which investigates the use of urban data and this way aims to contribute to the development of the new asset class "data-enabled smart city projects". The Fraunhofer researcher describes to INTERGEO.tv the collaboration with SCS as follows: "The Morgenstadt initiative has already been very successful at European level. However, we also noticed that many German municipalities are still experiencing problems, especially when it comes to data, which is the basis for many future projects. We are therefore pleased to have a platform with INTERGEO, where we can position our message very well ".

For Morgenstadt network partners there is a special offer, they enjoy free admission to the INTERGEO for the both days. The access codes for the tickets will be sent with the August issue of the Morgenstadt newsletter. But also interested parties   can get a one-day pass from us. If you are interested, please get in touch with our contact persons.
